Matthew 6:21 NIV
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Where do you store your treasure? A lot of believers invest in everything except their gifts and purpose. It is easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of the worlds need to own or have a lot of stuff. Does this stuff distract you from your gifts and purpose? If we look at the disciples, they sacrificed everything in order to follow Jesus. Does that mean we are not to have nice things or to buy items for ourselves? I don’t think it does, but if we are putting things above God then herein lies the problem. We need to put God before all, even ourselves. I have had to learn to pray over purchases that are not absolutely needed. I find that I do not splurge as much when I do that. How do you determine whether you should buy something or not?
Dear God, thank you that you want the best for me. Help me to remember to pray and no impulse buy things, but to pray and wait to see if it is really what I am supposed to buy. Give me your strength to avoid buying things that are unnecessary and help me to keep my vision on you and the purpose you have set before me. I pray all this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
