John 10:7-10
“Therefore Jesus said again, ‘Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
When the sheep are in the pen, the shepherd functions as a gate, protecting the sheep. Jesus is God’s salvation for us. There is an offer of safety and security, he protects us. We may come across some people that resent us because we believe that Jesus is the gate, that he protects us. Christians, however, were not the ones who made the requirement to believe in Jesus alone – he did. Jesus created the world; he has the right to declare how we should come to his salvation. Since he is God’s Son, is there any other way for us to seek salvation? He provides the entry point to our relationship with God. Are you following his lead?
Dear Lord, thank you that you love me so much that you sent your Son so that I may have salvation. Give me the strength to continue to follow his path and to help others realize who the true entry point to God is. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
