Romans 12:2

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing, and perfect will.”

In this Scripture, Paul warns us about following the corrupt and selfish design of this world which has fallen. This refusal to conform should go deeper than just our customs and behaviors. We must plant our non-conformity in the values and root them our minds. We must be transformed by the renewing of our minds. You might ask how to renew our minds? This is by taking in the Word into not only our hearts but our minds also. When we do research on who God says we are we can go deeper into our minds and not just change our behavior, but also our mindset. Sometimes it seems we place more emphasis on the behavior than we do on why we shouldn’t behave that way. I remember Joyce Meyers saying at a conference that you can go sit in a garage all the time, but it doesn’t make you a car. Just changing our behaviors to fit in and not knowing why we should change them will only lead us to frustration and will not renew our minds.

Dear God, please help me to renew my mind. Show me in your Word why we need to change and not conform to the will of the world. Help me be strong and be an example to those around me. Reboot my thinking to align with yours. Thank you for being who you are, and for sending your Son to the cross for me. I pray all this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
