Psalms 119:89

“Your word Lord is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.”

There have been times throughout my Christian life that I have prayed that God would give me a word. Most times God reminds me of what He had already said. God’s word never changes. We can rely on God to be the same today, yesterday, and tomorrow, so why do we expect the words already spoken to us that we have failed or are still in the process of doing be any different? Why do we search for a different answer? Is it because we don’t like the word we received from God or that we feel it too difficult to achieve? Well let me let you in on a little secret or maybe not such a secret. It is not through our power that we can accomplish anything, but through the power that God gives us. Perhaps instead of searching for a different word we need to be asking for the power to accomplish the task set before us. I know I struggle with this personally. I want things to happen faster than God usually wants them to happen. So, I give up. Or search for a new word that might be easier than the last. What is God asking you to do?

Dear Lord, help me to remain in you. Give me the courage and strength to accomplish what you are asking of me. Help me to discern what you are saying to me and help me to rely on your strength to accomplish whatever you are asking. Thank you that you love me so much that you will not just let me slide through life. I pray all this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
