Colossians 3:12-14
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, Kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues, put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”
Have you ever stood before your closet or even your room with clothes scattered everywhere wondering what in the world am I going to wear? I think my husband thinks me crazy at times. Yep, he gets up throws something on, say for church and he is ready to go, me on the other hand take what seems like a year to finally settle on something. By this time, I am exhausted, have no patience, and can be a bit snappy. Can anyone relate? So, while reading the above verse I felt a bit convicted. Do I even, during a crisis or not, clothe myself with what God thinks important? This Scripture I feel needs a bit of unpacking, so if you don’t mind, I think the next few devotionals we will look at how we clothe ourselves with these fundamental accessories. Will you join me?
Dear Lord, I thank you that I am holy and dearly loved. Help me to remember to clothe myself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience before I put on anything else and to wrap it all up in love. Help me to forgive others as you have forgiven me. Thank you for loving me even when I am a hot mess. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
