Matthew 11:29
“Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
Gentleness can sometimes be the most overlooked of the fruit of the Spirit. But there is a lot the Bible has to say about gentleness. God provides many instances of gentleness in the Bible with Jesus being the greatest model. There are some who view gentleness as being a sign of weakness but not God. On the contrary it takes great strength and self-control to show gentleness. It builds great character to be gentle. In the New Testament Jesus comes as the perfect example of being gentle and humble of heart. Paul then continues to demonstrate the model of gentleness in the way that he preaches (1 /Thes 2:7) these examples help us to see practically what they resemble in modern day. In Proverbs 15:1,4 it denotes those gentle words turn away wrath and are a tree of life. Gentleness in the bible means showing care and respect for others in the way you act and speak. Do you speak gentleness?
Dear Lord, help me to be gentle in all things. From my speech to my actions. Help to see others as you do and allow me to speak to them about you and your gentleness. Grant me the vision to see those in need of your love and gentleness. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
