John 13:7
“Jesus replied, ‘You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.’”
Sometimes it is hard for me to remember that God is more concerned with our trust than our talent. It seems that he would prefer us be more committed to our character than our career and more concerned with our obedience than our sacrifice. If you’re like me, I have a time or two, or maybe three, run ahead of God. He gives me a glimpse of what He is calling me to, and I take off running. This is something we see pretty much everyday in the world, wanting something when we want it. We live in a fast-paced world, so why isn’t God going at our pace? We want what we want on our timeline not His. I know for myself that when I rush ahead things might start to work for a bit, but after awhile I’m flailing along, I’ve left God behind. He is still there for me, but I imagine Him just shaking His head at me saying, “Daughter if you would but wait upon me.” God wants our trust, (T)otal (R)eliance (U)pon (S)piritual (T)iming. Not so easy, at least for me. How have you struggled with God’s timing?
Dear God, Thank you that you are more concerned with my being than with my doing. Help me to be unshakable, give me such a level of trust that I would not want to run ahead. Thank you for being perfect in every way and for loving me so much. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
