John 15:14-15

“You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything I have learned from the Father I have made known to you.”

In these Scriptures we see that God does not love sacrifice more than obedience. Being friends with God dramatically expands our self-worth. God so loved us that He sent His Son to earth to not only die for our sins, but to be an example of the Father for us. He relays the fact that we are no longer servants as it was before. He came to rescue us, but we are friends. He shares His Father with us, to give us the chance to change from a servant to a friend. Servants serve out of fear, friends serve out of love. What is required for this transition? A willing heart. We do not have to be perfect; we need not sacrifice as in the Old Testament days. Jesus opened the throne room so that we may have a closer relationship with God through Him. Is your heart willing?

Dear Lord, I pray that you remind me of my worth in you. Lift my face to your amazing friendship. Help me not to strive for your affection, but to be in communion with you through our relationship. Thank you for taking me from servant status friendship status. Remind me that nothing that I could do could bring that about, but through love of You I will obey out of love. Thank you for my life in you. I pray all this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
