Psalm 46:10
“He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
God is in control. This Scripture is a reminder of that. Most of the time this verse is interpreted to just as it says, be still. To stand in His presence to acknowledge that He is Lord, and He is in control of the nations and the earth. If you do a deeper search of the phrase, we find that in the original language it is the word rapha which means to let go, to be weak, to release, basically to surrender, and know. Paraphrased, “Surrender – in order that you may know…” God’s truth is that His strength is made perfect in our weakness. When we let go, surrender our lives, desires and will over to Him, He is able to reveal himself further to us. Whether we see this verse as a means to rest or to surrender, we know that when we release ourselves to Him our faith and trust will grow stronger allowing us to live the life God wants for us. Are you ready to surrender, let go and let God?
Dear Lord, I pray that I will be able to “Be still” in your presence, that I can surrender my will and desires to you and that you will reveal more of yourself to me. Please give me the strength to do this, I long to sit in your presence and grow my relationship with you. You amaze me, the more I learn and draw close to you the easier it is to deal with this life’s problems. Thank you for being so merciful and gracious. I pray all this in Jesus name, Amen.
