Matthew 26:13-17

“When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, ‘Who do people say the Son of Man is?’ They replied, ‘Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.’ ‘But what about you?’ he asked. ‘Who do you say I am?’ Simon Peter answered, ‘You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.’ Jesus replied, ‘Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in Heaven.’”

Peter was given supernatural revelation as to who Jesus truly was. Its amazing to me that we have the Bible to reveal the truth of Jesus, but we still struggle with acknowledging or know who Jesus is to us and the world. God revealed to Peter His Son. Some of them thought he was one of the great prophets come back to life. It was the revelation that God gave to Peter that revealed Him, it was not because Peter was smarter than the others or studied more books or studied harder, it was because it was the right time for God to use him to uncover who was the Son of God. Jesus did not need to use any of the disciples to reveal his identity, perhaps the reason He did was to show them the power that was at their fingertips. If we peruse the Bible we can find all types of attributes of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Who do you say Jesus is?

Dear God, please help me to remember who you are, help me to be disciplined in studying your Word and to continue to learn and love more of you. Take any doubts I may have as to who you are and turn them into confidence of your identity. Thank you that you are always helping us grow in you. In your name, Amen.
