Ephesians 4:32
“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another as God in Christ forgave you.”
What does it mean to be kind? Kindness is underrated. Sometimes it gets equated to being nice or pleasant, such as giving a smile, not ruffling feather, and/or getting along. This view makes it seem rather mundane. The Bible gives us a very different and compelling vision of kindness. True kindness comes from the Spirit. We imitate Christs kindness by loving our enemies. Kindness might not be easily accomplished. When we are commuting do we show kindness to others on the road, or do we twist the proverbial knife, and/or road rage. This is something I suffer with to the point of friends sending memes about road rage. Makes you stop and think, doesn’t it? Kindness is no small thing and can take effort on our part. I do notice I tend to be more kind when I am reading the Word daily and praying. If we follow the spirituality of the Holy Spirit, we open ourselves to an overflow of the heart and the ability to keep kindness on our lips. How can you show kindness today?
Dear God, thank you that your forgiving Spirit gives me such a wonderful example of kindness. Please help me share your kindness with others. Remind me when I get so caught up in a situation that I forget to keep kindness on my lips. Thank you for your patience. I pray all this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
