John 1:1-5

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

Do you ever have the feeling that your life’s problems are too complex or profound for God to understand them? In these verses we see that God created the whole universe, and that nothing is too complex or profound for him. God created you, and he loves you so much that his love is bigger than any problem you may have. When he created, he made everything from nothing. You are here because God created you. He made you to be who you are, and he gave you special gifts. You are valuable and unique with God; without God you are nothing. John wrote this book for both the gentiles and the Jews. There was no discrimination, just as today there is no discrimination. Some Christians may have certain gifts while you have other types of gifts. But God loves you enough to take the darkness out of the grave. Jesus came to this earth to bring the light to overcome the darkness and to bring eternal life. What can God do for you today?

Dear Lord, thank you that you love me so much that you created the world and me in it. Help me to remember that there is nothing that can overcome the light. Darkness has not overcome the light of the world. Help me to serve others who are in need of your salvation and love. Give me courage and strength to be able to speak to others about you and what you have done for us. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
