2 Corinthians 4:7-10

“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed – always carrying about the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.”

Even though we are as clay vessels, God uses us to spread the gospel, He gives us the power to do His work. In addition, He gives us the strength to carry on when we are feeling overwhelmed. We may be at the end of our rope, but we are not at the end of hope. When we carry Christ in our hearts and soul, we have strength. Because we are but earthly vessels, prone to sin and suffering, God never abandons us. Christ has won the battle so that we may have eternal life. A life beyond this sinful one. All our risks, humiliations, and trials give Christ the ability to prove His power and presence in and through us. This should give us comfort, that although we are sinful and suffer, Christ ultimately loves us enough to use us to show his power and might. Are you ready for Christ to use you?

Dear God, thank you that you can still use us to reach others with your gospel. Help me to remain in you, even when my world looks scary and full of strife. Give me courage to speak out your truths. Thank you that you can give us strength, that you are such a good father, that even though we live in this sinful world that you still have concern for us. I pray this through Jesus’ name. Amen.
