Matthew 28-30 (Message)
“Are you tired? Worn out? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
We have a refuge. I know personally it is hard to find time sometimes to just sit in God’s presence to find our refuge, but God is omnipresent, meaning He is everywhere all the time. He’s with us when we are doing the dishes, He is with us when we find a peaceful moment to sit still. He is there for you to give you strength and help to ease your burdens. He wants to spend time with you. Whenever you find a moment in the day to turn to Him, I guarantee you will walk away with a bit more joy in your life. Sometimes this might look like saying a prayer while you fold the laundry, or as I used to find when I was able to go to the grocery store by myself, I would walk around, with eyes open, speaking with the Lord in the still quiet part of my mind. I know its hard sometimes, but I can say it is worth just catching that minute or two with your Lord. What do you need refuge from today?
Dear God, thank you that you are always with me, even when I forget. Help me to desire spending time with you. Give me your wisdom to help others who also need a refuge. Thank you that you are there no matter where I catch a minute or two. I pray this in your Son’s name, Amen.
