Psalm 46:10
“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Being still requires us to be intentional. In today’s world it is hard to find any stillness. Not like our beginnings when in the womb, where it was a place of incubation and quiet perfection. When we are young all we long for is to be swaddled in comfort and peace. As we grow, we grow into a world that is less than peaceful. There will be a day when the whole earth will be still and quiet, when Jesus returns to this earth to collect His own. God knows that in order for us to have peace we need to stop and be still in Him. We might find partial peace in other things but to be totally at peace is to be with Christ. Take the time to stop a minute or two, stand in His presence and get your peace on. Do you need peace today?
Dear God, thank you for your peace. Help me to remember to take the time to be still in your presence. Give me your peace that I may pass it on to others who need to be still also. Thank you for your mercy and grace. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
