Isaiah 43:1-2
“But now, this is what the Lord says – Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overcome you; when you walk through the fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”
When we go through the turmoils of our lives, when the rivers are overwhelming us, we need to remember that God is with us. It is impossible for us to make it alone. We should be thankful that even though we fall short of being righteous on our own. God loved us so much that He shows mercy on us even with all our shortcomings. When God allowed His people, the Israelites, to go through trials it was to later redeem them. He has redeemed us also, to have a relationship with us. If we invite the Lord to be with us, He will also be in the river with us. I must remind myself daily that God is in the river and protecting me from the fire all the time. Do you have a river in your life?
Dear God, thank you that you are with me in the turmoil of my life as well as when things are going well. Help me to remember that you are always with me. Give me strength to show others your mercy and love. Thank you that you love me so much. I pray this through Jesus’ name, Amen.
