1 Corinthians 16:13-14
“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.”
These verses were originally written to the church in Corinth. Paul was telling them to watch out for those who would slip in and disturb the church with erroneous theology. He wanted them to stand firm to the faith, sticking to the teachings that they had been taught. Being courageous and strong, not to slip from the faith, and to rely on the strength given to them by the Holy Spirit. This not only applies to the historical writing for the church but also to us. We are to stand firm in our faith, being courageous to uphold the teachings of God and to remember that we have strength in the Holy Spirit. We are not alone in our struggles. Are you standing firm?
Dear God, thank you that you love me and have given me the Holy Spirit to give me strength. Help me to be more aware of this and that I would follow your teachings. Give me the ability to spread the Good News to others. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
