2 Peter 1:3-4

“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused to evil desires.”

To be able to lead a God-honoring Life does not come from within us, but from God. We do not have the resources inside of us to be able to do it on our own. When we turn over our lives to Christ, we are then reborn, and God empowers us with His own goodness. It is through this goodness that we can participate in the divine nature, allowing us to keep from sin and helps us live for Him. We must remind ourselves that is not through our own power that we have the strength to try to resist sin and to be able to have a close relationship with God. It is only through Him that we can accomplish this way of life. Do you know that God loves you?

Dear Lord, thank you for your divine goodness. Give me your strength to resist sin and to stay close to you. Help me to show others your goodness. I pray this through Jesus’ name, Amen.
