Galatians 5:13-15
“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.”
In verse 13, Paul distinguishes between freedom to sin and freedom to serve. There is no freedom found in sin at all, it enslaves us to Satan, others, or our own sinful nature. We lose the motivation to love, and we become critical of others. When we do this, we stop looking for the good in others, but rather only see faults. It is not much longer when we lose our unity. Have you ever talked behind someone’s back before? I ask this question because I have in the past fallen into that sinful way. It is easy for us to get off track and lose the love we have for one another. We must remind ourselves that God asks us as the number one law to love one another so that we find ourselves supporting each other rather than cutting each other down. Do you love your neighbor as yourself?
Dear God, thank you that you want only the best for me. Help me to remember to love others, rather than tearing others apart. Help me to show your love through me. I pray this in Jesus name, Amen.
