Genesis 1:26 ESV
“Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.’”
We all long to be significant. The meaning of this word according to Dictionary.com is, “important, deserving of attention.” When we are children, we are always looking for recognition like, ‘Hey mom look at this mudpie,” or “look mom, no hands” etc. The truth is we all want to be is loved and accepted. Humans crave significance, I am convinced God made us this way. We are in search of why we exist. All we have to do is peruse the Bible to find the answers. God made us to be like Him. We are to be image bearers of the Almighty, could there be anything more significant than that? When you lose your reason for being in existence, remember we are made in His image, and we are to reflect Him to others. How’s your reflection coming?
Dear Lord, thank you for making me in your image. Help me to remember that I am a reflection of you and not just something I charm up. Give me your strength to mirror you to others. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
