Psalm 103:3-7
“who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel:”
The law of God was first given to Moses and the people of Israel to present a clear picture of his character and what was the will for his people. In a way it was God’s training manual to prepare his people to follow his ways and to serve him. To understand the laws we need to read through the Ten Commandments as a reminder of what was written in the them. When you read these, ask God to show you his will for you and his way through them. There are other laws in the Old Testament that were given to Israel, but many of those laws became obsolete when Jesus came to earth and died for our sins. Those laws concerning sacrifices were dealt away when the ultimate sacrifice was given on the cross. God wants to heal you and forgive you of your sins, all we need due is to turn our lives over to him and ask for his forgiveness then we will be renewed. The oppression that Israel felt is something we need not deal with when we have Jesus on our side.
Dear God, thank you that your love for us released us from the laws of sacrifice of animals. Give me your wisdom as to what you want for my life, how to live it and how to get through the tough times when I don’t know what to do. Give me a deep desire to read your word and learn more about you. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
