Psalm 9:13-14
“Lord, see how my enemies persecute me! Have mercy and lift me up from the gates of death, that I may declare your praises in the gates of Daughter Zion, and there rejoice in your salvation.”
We all want God to help us in times of trouble, but often for different reasons. Some want help becoming well liked and successful. Others want to be happy and comfortable. Justice for Israel was what David wanted. He wanted to show others God’s power. When we call out to God, we need to consider what our motive is. Do we want to be successful, well liked, comfortable and/or happy? Or is there another reason we cry out to God. Whatever the reason, we must thoughtfully contemplate what our reasons are and if they line up to God’s will for us. What do you need help with?
Dear Lord, I pray that your will be done in my life. Help me to desire what your will is for me, and not what I want for myself. Give me your love for others so that I can share your mighty power with them. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
