2 Corinthians 2:1-2

“And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.”

I have a testimony, you have a testimony, those around us have testimonies. You may be wondering what a testimony is and why do I have one? Definition – a testimony, according to Merriam Websters dictionary, “an open acknowledgment, an outward sign, a public professing of religious experience.” Does that mean if you aren’t a Christian, you have no testimony? My perception is this, any time we have an experience whether religious in nature, or something that has happened in your life, you have a testimony. The Christian definition leans toward an experience of religious in nature. It was interesting to see In my search for testimony I found it mostly referred to the previous, Religion, and if not religion it would be described as something to do with court proceedings. If we search through the Scriptures, we see testimonies throughout. Look at Paul, who before he had his encounter with God on the road to Damascus, was one of the worst persecutors of Christians. When he had encounter with God he shares what he was before and after that encounter throughout his writings. What is your testimony?

Dear Lord, help me to share my testimony in a way that points to you. I love you and all of the ways in which you reach for your lost sheep. Please give me courage and strength to be a good witness for you. I ask these things in Jesus’ name, Amen.
