Matthew 17:1-2
“Six days later Jesus took Peter and the two brothers, James and John, and led them up a high mountain to be alone. As the men watched, Jesus transformed so that his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light.”
Yesterday we talked about transforming our minds. It is interesting to note that the word transform only appears in each Gospel one time. The word in the Greek is metamorphoo this is where we get the root of our word, metamorphosis. Like when a butterfly is transformed from a caterpillar, so to will we be transformed externally one day when Jesus comes back. For now, we can transform internally which will change our behaviors on the outside. Every battle starts with our minds, not our behavior. In order to change how we act we must first change our thought patterns. God wants to free us from condemning thoughts and behaviors that are compulsive, along with negative thoughts and feelings. He longs to see us free so that we may live the life he set out for us. What do you need to be set free from?
Dear Lord, I pray that you will transform my mind, help me to not listen or even hear the condemning thoughts that can run through my mind. Help me to remember you want the ultimate life I can have here on earth. To live out the life you have given me. Thank you so much that you care so deeply for me. I pray this in your name, Amen.
