“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old is gone, the new is here!

2 Corinthians 5:17

I have to admit that I struggle with this new creation at times. I go back and pick up the old thoughts of who I was. It is hard for some of us to realize that when we turned our lives over to God that we became something new. He died on the cross to take up our sin, so why is it so hard to leave behind the thoughts of our past life? When we concentrate on Jesus instead of our past, we are able to continue moving forward instead of backwards. I know for myself that when Jesus is the center of my life, the old me fades or even disappears from view. All I can say is that I am thankful that He meets me where I am. Through prayer, mediation on Scripture, and focusing on what Jesus did for us on that cross helps me to leave my baggage at the door.

Dear Lord, I pray that today you remind me of who I am in you. Give me ears to hear and eyes to see those around me who are struggling, who need your love and grace. Help me to step out of my comfort zone to help those in need, even if its just a friendly hello, or to take time to listen to someone and not interject my thoughts. Give me your wisdom and love to share with others. Thank you for being such a good example of how to live out my life. I pray all of this in your name, Amen.
