Titus 3:4-5

“But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.”

God is our source of our salvation which is implied by verse 5. This theme is common among Scriptures, as well as how God saves us. Our salvation does not come through our works or good deeds but through the sacrifice that the Lord has made. When we accept Jesus, it includes the washing of regeneration which refers to the spiritual cleansing we receive. A person’s life is made new, not meaning baptism or an emotional experience. We are cleansed and renewed not by us but by God’s mercy. We need to accept the fact that we do not play a role in our own righteousness other than taking that leap and accepting Christ as our Savior. Through no effort that we provide or can do. This process involves God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Only through them can we be renewed and regenerated. Washed in Gods righteousness. Are you washed in the regenerative salvation of Jesus Christ?

Dear Lord, thank you that you love me so much that you want to renew and regenerate my mind. Help me to keep this in mind when I start to think its all about me that I have been saved. Please give me the strength to rely on you and the Holy Spirit to renew my mind. You are so amazing God. I pray all this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
