1 John 3:1

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!”

In today’s world it is easy for us to get caught up on social media. Not that there is anything wrong with being able to communicate with others but when we become obsessed there lies the issue. We live in a world where there is a lot of feelings of loneliness, anxiety, body image problems and eating disorders. What we see on social media can make us envious or self-conscious about our lives and bodies. We look towards social media to decide who we are instead of looking towards the one that created us. It might seem that those posting on these venues have what you long for but remember you are seeing only a snippet of their lives. Photos are edited to look better; stories are edited to make them sound more interesting in order to get a following. It is not healthy for us to compare ourselves to those who seem to have it all. The answers you are searching for are not on social media, real life is about people who are imperfect like you and me. We need to rely on a perfect God and let Him tell us who we are in Him. We are His beloved children, He made us with His own Hands. We are the ones He adores so much that He sent His Son to die for us. This is what we need to remember when we get all caught up on social media and start comparing ourselves to others we do not know. Who do you say you are?

Dear God, please help me to focus on you and not on social media to see who I am. Let me see how you see me. Help me to keep leaning on you for my identity. Thank you that you loved and adored us so much that you sent your son to die on the cross for us. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
