1 John 1:5

“This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.”

Good, pure, holy, true, and reliable are things that light represents. So God being light lets us know that there is goodness, pureness, holiness, trueness, and reliability in Him. With that said we can understand that darkness represents the opposite, sin and evil. God being light means He can lead us out of the darkness we find ourselves in. This lightness also can expose our motives, whether bad or good. In the light good and bad can be clearly recognized. Just as darkness cannot exist in light, sin cannot exist in the presence of a holy Lord. If we want that relationship with God, we must let the light expose the darkness in our lives. When we do this God can help us to be led out of sin just as you are led out of darkness. This can be difficult at times but to have the life that God wants for us, an abundant life, we must be ready to expose the darkness to the light. Do you have any darkness in your life today?

Dear Lord, thank you for our lives and the ability to have a relationship with you. Please help me to have courage to expose any darkness I may have to your light so that I may have a stronger relationship with you and to walk in your light. Thank you that even in our darkness you still love us. Help me to continue to walk in lightness and to help me with my sin. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
