Joshua 1:9
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
When my life is disrupted, flipped upside down, it seems impossible to be strong and courageous. This verse may seem, to some, that it is more about the pressure to be perfect, but it’s really a promise. God is not surprised at anything, nothing is too difficult for God to maneuver, nor is anything bigger than God. When we are betrayed, disappointed, abandoned, or when we are cut to the very core of our faith and hope, this is the place that God promises are increased. It is hard not to be frightened in today’s world. With all that is going on around us, it would be easy to fall into the mix, complaining, miserable, or frightened, we need to remember that wherever we go, so does God. We need to rely on God and His promises. We need to pray and read the Word. What promise of God’s do you need today?
Dear God, thank you that you love me, that you are always with me even when I cannot tell that you are there. Help me to remember your promises, help me to be strong and courageous. Let my life be a light in the darkness for those in need. Open my eyes to what you see and give me your love to pass on to others. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
