Hebrews 10:23
“Let us seize and hold tightly the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is reliable and trustworthy and faithful (to His word).” AMP
Sometimes I have a hard time letting go of what was in the past or I hold tightly to what is. The next level of faith means we hold tightly to what we believe, not what has been seen or where we have been. The past can be a chain that pulls us back, not letting us move forward. Longing for the good old days or thinking about how we could have changed things for the better. The present is a gift, but it does not contain the fullness of what lays ahead. For these reasons we are to anchor ourselves in our belief in a never-ending hope. God requires us to appreciate the journey we are on, rather than to be looking back over things that cannot be changed or that we have moved on from that life. He also wants us to live expectantly, anticipating eagerly heaven’s next move. When we look backward instead of forward, we block the way for new moves of the Spirit, or where God is leading us. We need to focus on being in the presence of the Lord so that we can receive all that He has for us. What are you holding onto?
Dear God, help me to live in the present and looking towards the future. Give me your peace and show me what I need to let go of. Thank you that you are always growing me to be more like Christ. You care for me, and I thank you for that. Give me your eyes and ears to help others around me. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
